NOW THAT'S INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING

On a short visit to Madison from Chicagoland, I got a chance to read "Reefer
Madness" Now that's Investigative reporting at its best.

I wish the so-called World's Greatest Newspaper-the Chicago Tribune -
would take a lesson from Bill Lueders on bravery and accurate
investigating of the facts.

I am 55, and I guess I still believe deep down that TV's Sgt. Joe Friday was
real and all that the police truly want are "the facts, nothing but the
facts, ma'am." In that spirit, I offer these facts on deaths per year
related to the consumption of certain substances in the United States:
marijuana, 0 deaths; caffeine, 1,000 to 10,000; alcohol, 150,000; and
tobacco, 350,000 to 450,000 deaths.
