It is plane to see that it is Jolene Farkas who is misinformed["Don't
lump Prozac in with mind-bending drugs,"Letters,Aug. 6].Prozac is one
of the most insidious drugs ever created.

In the first year Prozac was released widely there were over 1,600
deaths linked to the drug. Even the FDA said that figure represented
only about 10 percent of the actual deaths attributed to Prozac. But
Eli Lily (Prozac's manufacturer) and the drug's advocates are making
billions of dollars off sales to a misinformed and ignorant public and
so it remains in use, destroying more lives every year.

There are many alternatives to Prozac and other psychiatric drugs that won't
end in a damaged mind or life. The book, "Psychiatry: The Ultimate
Betrayal," by BruceWisman, is a good first step.
