The anti-substance diatribe in the Feb. 27 Register is an exercise
in hypocrisy on the part of our governor and state legislators
("Branstad Again Eyes Way to Punish Drug Offenders"). Leadership
by example dictates that they first make it a crime for a
politIcian to consume alcoholic beverages during his term of
office. Extend this principle to cops, prosecutors and judges.
Then crack down on dope addicts, drunken drivers and people who
make alcohol available to minors.
