One officer looked as if he was 250 pounds and his plate sported six sprinkly doughnuts. Doughnuts were 60 cents each. Wanting to aggregate total consumption and cost I figured we could multiply 20 officers by six doughnuts for a total consumption of 120 doughnuts. Therefore 120 doughnuts multiplied by 60 cents equals a total cost of $72 at that night's coffee break. What could possibly be wrong with the math? Well, for one thing not all officers were eating doughnuts and some did not eat six. Some ate other items. Obviously, there are lies, damn lies and statistics. Your article describing the profits per gram and per plant in a marijuana bust showed irregularities as glaring as the example above. Your reporting should adhere to the maxim in journalism: Obtain information from several sources. Charles Beyer Port Alberni, B.C. - --- MAP posted-by: Matt
