It's time to stop marijuana prohibition in Maryland. After years of misinformation and propaganda, the federal government has an entire generation believing that marijuana is as harmful as heroin or cocaine. The facts speak for themselves: there has never a recorded death from marijuana overdose. How many friends and family members do we know who have had their lives ruined by alcoholism? If alcohol is so readily available and yet so damaging, why is a mostly harmless substance like cannabis still illegal? Why are we letting the government tell us what we can do and cannot do over a simple plant? It should be a civil right for responsible adults to choose whether or not to consume marijuana in the privacy of their own homes. I agree that those who abuse this right should be punished in the same manner as alcohol. But, to not have to the right to choose is not the in the best American tradition. I urge you to support legalizing and taxing marijuana in Maryland. ALEXANDER BREEDING, Denton - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
