FOLLOW COLORADO'S LEAD

You may have seen news reports regarding a new medical marijuana bill
(HB 1385) that state Rep. Sherry Jones is introducing in the Tennessee
General Assembly. It is a very strictly written law that gives relief
to severely ill persons whose regular medications/drugs provide no
relief to their pain and suffering. In the news reports children with
seizures are used to support this bill - children with many conditions
whose seizures are not controlled with any of the many
life-threatening seizure drugs.

As you consider which side of this issue you are on please note that
the component of the marijuana plant that appears to cure seizures in
children is a derivative of the plant called CBD Oil. It does not
produce any intoxicating effects. You cannot get high on it, and it
has no street value. However, at this time CBD Oil is illegal in Tennessee.

In Colorado, the seizure oil is called "Charlotte's Web" after
Charlotte Figi, whose family was featured in a recent CNN report by
Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Many Tennesseans have moved to Colorado to be placed
on the waiting list for the oil for their sick children.

Please support this bill. In a perfect world CBD Oil could be
classified simply as a derivative of marijuana in much the same way
morphine, codeine and Oxycodone are classified as derivatives of opium
and obtained via a prescription. These children and families need a
commonsense approach to a very controversial issue.
