UNWORTHY OF THE BADGE

Kathy Lewis makes a great point. "Peace Officer" Drew Boyle should be
ashamed of himself (Letters, Feb. 23).As a society, we provide law
enforcement excellent pay and the privilege of carrying restricted and
prohibited weapons, not to mention the full spectrum of community
support and resources if one of them comes to harm in the course of
their duties. In return, all we ask a higher standard of integrity and
discretion, especially when it comes to conflicts of interest such as
not launching attacks on citizens who point out failed policies that
may result in re-assignment when implemented (and judging by opinion
polls, repeal of prohibition is just a matter of time).When people in
positions such as Boyle try to bully others because their opinions,
either in person or in print, in my mind it makes them unworthy of the
badge.
