Flint City Council President Darryl Buchanan, who opposes the initiative, says that he can't speak about this from a medical standpoint. If this is the case, then on what grounds can he oppose this medically centered proposal? Mr. Buchanan thinks that allowing doctors to recommend medicine to help sick and dying patients somehow sends the wrong message to kids about drugs. If he was concerned about the children, then he might wonder what effect it has on children to watch their parents and grandparents suffer unnecessarily due to inability to receive life-improving medication. Unnamed opponents point to the level of crime in Flint as a reason to vote against medical marijuana. I fail to follow this logic. A vote yes on this issue would free up police resources currently wasted persecuting patients. Brian Morrissey Flint Coalition for Compassionate Care - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
