TOO HARD ON STUDENT

As a graduate of Badger High School, I'm not at all surprised at the
actions taken against Kerry Lofy. While I attended the school, it seemed as
though no First Amendment existed; nor was there a 14th. Badger seemed to
be run as a prison with regard to some of its rules - chains blocking
parking lots, random locker searches with drug dogs, police liaisons
wandering every hallway and, now, stifling a student's freedom to express
himself.

If one is not allowed to harmlessly express oneself in a high school forum,
where is one allowed to? I feel it is ridiculous to fine Lofy and even more
so to suspend him. I applaud Lofy and anyone who has the guts to make a
statement about what he or she believes in.

Badger officials could actually learn something from his actions - just
because they disagree with him doesn't mean he deserves to be punished.
