The government should already be fully committed to protecting us from dangerous people. If authorities, bogged down in the unending quagmire called the war on drugs, were not distracted by their present unconstitutional "emphasis" on spying, inspecting, surveillance, capturing, confiscating, prosecuting, incarcerating, paroling, drug testing and forced treatment of nonviolent citizens in our society, then of course we could direct these vast resources toward the apprehension of violent people like the sniper, who actually violate the rights of other individuals. We could also do more productive things with these freed-up monies and able-bodied workers. It is thus economically sound, morally correct to repeal all the laws that criminalize drugs.
