I'm predicting a very bad year for Gordo and the B.C. Liberals. Victoria really should have thought this out; it makes me wonder what they were smoking when they passed this ridiculous and confrontational law. With that in mind, a far greater number of people break the law daily by smoking pot, than belong to the B.C. Teachers Federation. Teachers are not responsible for my children's civic education or what is right or wrong vis-a -vis a particular law. That endeavour is entirely up to me, not the hired help. Teachers are not essential, parents are. Yet there is no law that forces a parent to be a parent. My children are taught that a bad law must be confronted; it is our constitutional duty to arduously oppose bad legislation and if an errant government sends you to jail, so be it. Standing there dumfounded and forced to work is hardly freedom. I support the teachers' right to not work and that's all I care about. I am under absolutely no illusions that our present education system is possibly going to benefit my offspring and I really don't care if they stay out till Elvis gets back. I just get really concerned when my government tells me when to work. Or else! Robert Saint Amour Deep Bay - --- MAP posted-by: Beth
