Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh and the ACLU are strange bedfellows indeed. Even Limbaugh welcomed the ACLU to his case after the civil rights organization filed court documents supporting his constitutional right to privacy when the prosecution seized his medical records in November to investigate whether he violated Florida drug laws when he purchased prescription painkillers. The prosecution sought the medical records in an attempt to bolster its claim that Limbaugh engaged in doctor shopping to obtain multiple prescriptions for the same drug. By coming to Limbaugh's defense, the ACLU is once again fulfilling its mission to fight civil liberties violations, wherever and whenever they occur, regardless of who is involved. Limbaugh is right to welcome the ACLU. He is one of those rare people who decided to fight an injustice and now is lucky enough to reap the benefits of having the nation's premiere civil rights legal team to assist him in presenting his case that his medical records should remain private. Never thought I'd ever say this, but good luck to you, Mr. Limbaugh. Judy D. Thomas Antioch - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
