DRUG WAR BACKFIRES IN AFGHANISTAN

We have a war on drugs. We spend a huge amount of money "fighting" the
drug supply --- notably in South America.

We now "control" Afghanistan, where poppy production has exploded
under our control. Afghanistan is the biggest supplier of the raw
materials of drug ingredients.

Our Army doesn't eradicate the poppy fields and apparently ignores
them. It can be argued that we are protecting the warlords/farmers
producing these materials.

Is the U.S. Army our enemy in the drug war? Perhaps we'd better send
the Air Force to bomb our Army for protecting the drug producers.
