ILL-DEFINED POLICIES

I am shocked and astounded at the Bush administration's attempt to equate
drugs and terrorism. I do see parallels between the War on Terrorism and
the War on Drugs in terms of both being totally ineffective. In addition,
these policies are ill-defined, allowing our political leaders to invoke
them to justify any number of other objectives. I am horrified by the
manner in which the Republicans in Congress and the president are using the
deaths of thousands of Americans to justify right-wing policies. Scare
tactics would be beneath a true patriot, who would understand that abusing
these events only adds to cynicism about government. If we are to equate
spending with terrorism, why not put Osama bin Laden posters at every gas
pump in the country and equate conservation with the patriotism it truly is?
