PROHIBITION DIDN'T SOLVE ANYTHING

Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin may be correct in some of their assumptions in their
recent letter to the editor. I'm not sure a legal lottery, however, will
make gamblers out of people who were not already prone to become gamblers.
Likewise, prohibition has never stopped the addict from finding his
preferred source of a high, whether it be alcohol in the 1920s or drugs in
the current age. In the case of a state lottery, at least the state is
making some money off of this and will hopefully put it to good use.

We should all have a problem when other people try to force feed us their
own version of morality. They do this in the name of God. God can take care
of his own. All I would ask is that the ones who think they are doing his
work allow us to find his way in our own time.

Our country will do fine if we tolerate - not the same as acceptance, some
people get those principles confused - those who don't think, look, walk
and talk like us. Tolerance goes both ways. If Christians will tolerate
those "on the road to Hell," I feel that the nonbelievers will tolerate the
Christians. In that end, perhaps we can all come together and make this
nation an even greater place to live.
