Prohibition didn't work on alcohol and it doesn't work with drugs. All it does is create a $400 billion dollar underground industry and make the profits on illegal drugs so high that drug trafficking has an irresistible allure. If we want to cut drug use, we need to bring drugs within the law, regulate them and control them. Over 60 years of the drug war has proven that government prohibition doesn't work. The drug war eats up over $40 billion a year of our tax dollars. It's time to end the misguided anti-drug ads, and it's time to begin real dialogue on how to reduce the harm to our children and their families.
