YOUNG PEOPLE ATTRACTED TO CANNABIS BECAUSE OF BAN

SIR - Your leading article draws the wrong conclusion about the 
legalisation of cannabis for the 18 - 25 age group.  The point is not that 
this impressionable group is attracted to cannabis itself, but to the 
present illegality of it.  Having had the thrill of trying something which 
the state bans, most of these young people lose the urge to move on to 
harder, more dangerous drugs.
