UNLIKE DRUG WAR, POT IS A BLESSING

Thank you for the story, "Canada's pot farm buried deep" (News, Aug. 3).

To look at my country's example should be enough to send Canada's
politicians out erecting a huge fence to keep America's prohibitionist
politicians OUT.

Enforcing the drug laws as they have been created by the U.S. federal
government today is never going to happen. It is a failed war that is
unwinnable on an infinite level _ except for those who profit from
escalating the war.

I try not to push my Christian walk with God but I will add one common
denominator and very important connection to this issue: God, who blessed
us with cannabis to begin with. The only biblical restriction placed on
cannabis (also known as kaneh bosm before the King James version), is that
we accept it with thanksgiving.

Accept cannabis for what it is as described on the very first page of the
Bible. If God gave us cannabis, who gives us cannabis prohibition?

Thank God for cannabis. To do otherwise is to stumble on the first page of
the Bible. Christians, take heed! We Christians do not have to smoke
cannabis but we would do well to disassociate from those who would cage a
human, including Christians, for using cannabis.
