Bryceson A LITTLE OUT OF JOINT What's this? The Federal Government is giving a grant of $300,000 to the Marijuana Society so that it can start a marijuana store and promote the smoking of the drug? (Herald, November 2). At the same time, the State Government is proposing that small numbers of sick people should be allowed to use alcohol legally under strictly controlled conditions? Oh, sorry, I've got it wrong. The above situation would just be absurd. Instead, it's the other way around - money goes to the Wine Society to promote wine drinking and we worry about whether we should allow the use of marijuana for pain relief in extreme circumstances. Now, that situation is quite normal and sensible. Isn't it? B. Bryceson, Mangerton - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
