To the Editor of The East Valley Tribune:
I'm writing about Dale Whiting's letter: "MEXICAN DRUG WARS: We need a
solution" (12-3-10).
The only solution the violence caused by our failed drug prohibition
policies is the same solution
we used in 1933 to end the violence caused by our then failed alcohol
prohibition policies: re-legalization.
Of course, the drug war cheerleaders will claim that re-legalizing our
now illegal drugs will be giving into the drug dealers and drug lords.
When we re-legalized alcohol in 1933 did we give into the alcohol
cartels? No. We put them out of business.
Arresting and jailing a drug dealer or even the head of a drug cartel
has the effect similar to cutting off the top of a weed. It will grow
back--stronger than ever.
The only way to get rid of any weed is to kill the root--and the root of
our drug problem is: prohibition.

Your editorial 'Judge Made Right Decision in Pot Case' is missing one
important fact that both the judge and lawyers apparently did not know.
Michigan's law covering impaired driving based on a drug test for
marijuana was changed by a Michigan Supreme Court decision of June
8th, 2010 as the result of an appeal of a 2005 case.
At its heart the decision requires evidence of actual impaired
driving, not just a drug test. The ruling is on line at
http://www.courts.michigan.gov/supremecourt/Clerk/10-09/138031/138031-
The decision applies equally to all cases involving driving and
marijuana, not just those of legal medicinal marijuana users.
In light of the Supreme Court decision it is likely that if this case
is appealed it will be reversed.

To the Editor of the Chico Enterprise-Record:
I'm writing about the letter from Jan Harrison: "Reform medical
marijuana ordinance"
(12-3-10). I have some simple advice for Harrison and others who oppose
marijuana
use: Don't buy it and don't use it. Period.

I'm writing about your thoughtful editorial: "Knocking down the
kingpins" (12-5-10).
Killing drug dealer or even the head of drug cartels
has the effect similar of cutting off the top of a weed. It will grow
back--stronger than ever.
The only way to get rid of any weed is to kill the root--and the root of
our drug problem is: prohibition.
Law enforcement didn't get rid of the alcohol cartels in 1933,
re-legalizing alcohol did.

From: Kirk Muse <>

To the Editor of The Flyer News:
I'm writing about the thoughtful column by Christine Olding:
"Weeding out excuses for illegality" (12-6-10).
Marijuana is the foundation of our so-called war on drugs. Remove
marijuana from the equation and the whole drug war will collapse.
The so-called war on drugs is a huge industry and huge bureaucracy.
Victory in the drug war is not possible, nor is it the goal. Victory
in the drug war would mean that the drug war industry and bureaucracy
are out of business.
There are basically two kinds of people who support the so-called war on
drugs:
Those who make their livelihood from it. This includes politicians and
bureaucrats who are probably on the payroll of the drug cartels. (Al
Capone had hundreds of politicians and prohibition officials on his
payroll).
Fools - taxpayers who have bought into the lies and propaganda of the
drug-war industry and bureaucracy.
Fools - who are willing to deny liberty and freedom to others but
think that their own liberty and freedom will never be in jeopardy.
Fools - who believe that criminalizing a substance will make it go
away. Fools - who think that drug prohibition somehow protects children.
Fools - who think that giving criminals control of dangerous drugs
somehow protects children and our society.
Fools - who think that they live in a free country even thought the
United States is the most incarcerated nation in the history of human
civilization.
